Right now we’ll talk about how to make a dribble pass. A dribble pass is used because it gives you an opportunity to make a quick pass in the game without taking extra time to stop and gather yourself. Like most things in basketball, anything we do with the right hand we want to be able to do with the left hand. So we’ll try to show you how to make a pass off the dribble with your right hand as well as making a pass off the dribble with your left hand. So George and I will go on opposite sides of the lane to start. So the first thing we want to do is right now I’ll take two bounces, and I’ll make the pass. So as I make my two bounces, I make the pass right into it. Okay.

As George throws me the ball back, most of the time you do not want to do this. You don’t want to bounce it, stop, and make a chest pass. Okay. And then other times, you can also stop and make a bounce pass. But this particular pass is we’re passing right off the motion as if the ball is coming up off the ground. As soon as it hits our hand, we’re getting right into that pass. So as I take this dribble, two dribbles, I’m making the pass. George will do the same thing coming back to me. Two dribbles. Pass.

And now we’ll do it with our left hand. Two dribbles, and I’m passing right into it. We’ll work on it this way as well to give you a better view. So I’ll start with the basketball, and now we’ll speed through it. Now I’ll do it with one dribble. So now as a quick pass, a one-dribble pass. Quick pass, one-dribble pass. And now I’ll do it with my left hand. One-bounce pass. And then George will one-bounce pass. So now we’ll add a defender to the drill, where now we’ll put George over here. So now as I come down and there’s ball pressure, I’m dribbling the ball, and I’m making a quick pass. And now we’ll have George go to the opposite side, where now we have a defender here. I dribble it, and I make a quick pass. That’s how you make a dribble pass.
